Office Hours: Developing OER Policy (July 18, 11 a.m. PST / 2 p.m. EST)

Topic: Developing OER Policy
When: July 18, 2 p.m. EST/ 11 a.m PST
Guest Speakers: Rebecca Van de Vord (Assistant Vice President, AOI; Liaison to the Provost’s Office; Director, Learning Innovations at Washington State University); Jessica Norman (eLearning Librarian at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology); and Billy Meinke (OER Technologist at University of Hawai’i at Mānoa)

As OER programs evolve, so may their policies. In this Office Hours session, we’ll hear from people representing a variety of institutions where OER policies have been implemented. We’ll learn more about the policy that guides their programs, and the impact that it will have on their campus. We’ll hear how and why the policies were developed, the stakeholders involved, and stories from their development. Our guests will share specifics of what is included in the policy, such as information about how to create, license, and maintain OER, clear processes for faculty looking to use OER for their courses, selection criteria around OER, and access to repositories. Our guests will also discuss the process, challenges, and predictions for how policy may evolve.
