How do I join a project?
The best way you can contribute to the Rebus Community is by offering your support to one of our active open textbook projects. This support can come in many forms:
- Authoring a section or chapter
- Editing and proofreading
- Working with students to expand a text
- Finding public domain texts or CC-licensed images
- Creating ancillary materials
- Formatting in Pressbooks
- Promoting adoptions
- Sharing projects in your own network or institution to find others who can contribute
Here’s how to join a project:
The first step is to find a project (or several!) where you have some knowledge or expertise in the subject, or might know someone who does.
Once you click on a project, you’ll see the full project summary first. In this summary will be a list of things the project currently needs, or will need in future. To join the project, reply to the post with a bit about yourself and how you can help. The project leads will then get back to you with more details of how to proceed!
The other way to help out our projects is to share them in your own network or institution to find others who can contribute. The more people who know about the project, the better. Please tweet, email, share and rave about a project to anyone else who might be interested in joining!
Note: We have some software in the works that will streamline this process in the near future. Keep an eye out!
