Re: INAA: Chapter 11-The Plains
Hi fellow Plains anthropologists! I thought I might start this conversation by introducing myself. I don’t think I know any of you and thought a good way to start might be for each of us to let the others know where we work, etc.
I have active field projects in Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma and I focus on sites dating to the 16th-mid-19th centuries. I’m most interested in how Plains peoples adapted to direct and indirect consequences of European colonialism in neighboring regions. For example, how did migrants from the Southwest change the social dynamics of Plains peoples in the Central Plains?
I teach an “Archaeology of the Great Plains” class at the University of Oklahoma and I’ll probably teach a “North American Archaeology” class soon. I’m excited to start this project and get to know the rest of you!
