Hello all,
I am Dr. Cynthia Singleton, Professor of Mathematics. I have been teaching Mathematics at Southern University at New Orleans over 24 years, teaching for Southern University at Shreveport in Louisiana for 6 years. I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and graduated from Southern University at New Orleans in 1985 with a B.S. in Accounting and minor in Mathematics. In 1988, I received my certification to teach Secondary Mathematics. I earned my master’s degree in Mathematics in 1996 at Loyola University in New Orleans. I received a Ph.D. in Mathematics and Science in 2009 at Southern University A & M in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
My mission is to educate and build students’ self-esteem in Mathematics. Hobbies: I enjoy church, shopping at sales, music, dancing, staying healthy, and enjoying life: Live, Love, and Laugh. My professional goals are to mentor high school, undergraduate, and graduate scholars, write grants to support scholars financially, enhance Mathematics scholars’ resumes by helping them attend and present at conferences and conducting research. My skills include facilitating meetings, submitting reports for federal and state agencies, presenting at conferences, and publishing articles in refereed journals. I am a recipient of NSF or federal grant for Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship/Stipend Programs. This grant is available to STEM juniors/seniors and pos baccalaureate scholars. The Robert Noyce Grant Program is for STEM students or STEM professionals who want to teach in high need schools.
