Office Hours: Making Modular OER

Topic: Making Modular OER
When: 23 April 2020, 2pm ET/11 am PT
Guests: Melissa Falldin (Instructional Designer, Digital Education and Innovation, College of Education and Human Development), Lindsay Woodside (Program Manager, Ontario Extend), and Jonathan Lashley (Associate Chief Academic Officer, Idaho State Board of Education).

A major advantage of OER is the ability for anyone to remix, reuse, and revise the material to better fit their needs. OER creators can consider setting up texts to be repurposed by future readers. In this month’s Office Hours, guests will explain the importance of structure and modularity in open textbooks. They will discuss different ways to assemble texts for easier realignment or reorganization in terms of content, structure, and layout. Guests will share the wide-ranging benefits of modular OER, including how it increases the audience and potential use of a text.
