Having previously worked with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Correctional officer and later as a Parole Officer, I have some understanding of why recidivism is a big challenge in the United States. My perception of Corrections in the United States has also been sharpened by my teaching and research and I believe that I can contribute to teaching and motivating the next generation of correctional management leaders in pursuance of an efficient and culturally responsive criminal justice system.
