Topic: How to Engage Leadership in OER
When: 2021-01-28T18:00:00Z → 2021-01-28T19:00:00Z
Guests: Teri O. Gallaway (Executive Director and Associate Commissioner, Louisiana Library Network (LOUIS)), Josh Bolick (Scholarly Communication Librarian, University of Kansas), and Carrie Gits (Head Librarian/Associate Professor, Highland Campus Library, Austin Community College).
While a more engaged leadership doesn’t guarantee programmatic success, it can certainly make a significant difference when working to promote OER use on campus. In this session, we’ll hear from guests at the departmental, institutional, and state levels talk about strategies for engaging administrative leadership to support OER adoption and creation. This may include, for example, faculty incentives, advocacy, course markings, and positions dedicated to OER. Our guests will share how conversations with leadership got started, stories about how relationships were built, and the impact of engaged leadership on student savings and learning. Next month, we’ll continue the discussion by looking at ways to engage student leaders.
This session is now complete. Thank you to our guests and attendees. Watch the recording, or read the audio and chat transcripts:
