Office Hours: MOUs, Contracts, and Agreements (June 20, 11 a.m. PST / 2 p.m. EST)

Topic: MOUs, Contracts and Agreements
Date: Wednesday, June 20, 11 a.m. PST / 2 p.m. EST
Guests: Meredith Jacob, Assistant Director, Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property, Public Lead – Creative Commons USA, Washington College of Law; Ann Ludbrook, Copyright and Scholarly Engagement Librarian, Ryerson University; and others, TBD.

We all need starting points for creating open textbooks. One of those necessary starting points may be a contract, MOU or agreement between the open textbook author(s) and the institution funding the work, between student contributors and faculty working on the textbook, and between the various collaborators… In this office hours session, we’ll discuss agreements, and their role in clarifying expectations and responsibilities during the creation process. We’ll also talk about the Adaptable OER Publishing Agreement, collaboratively created by Creative Commons USA, the Rebus Community, and the Open Textbook Network. This document was developed in a way that makes it easy for institutions to edit to meet their own campus intellectual property policy requirements.

This session is complete. Thank you to our guests and attendees. Watch a recording of the session below or read through the audio transcript:
