June 2024 - We are excited to announce an opportunity for experienced scholars and professionals in the fields of communication, media studies, sociology, psychology, and related disciplines to contribute their expertise to the peer review process for an upcoming open textbook titled “Humans R Social Media.”
- Interested individuals are invited to submit their applications by June 7, 2024
- $400 honorarium for selected reviewers
“Humans R Social Media” is an innovative open textbook aimed at understanding the intricate relationship between individuals and social media platforms. Authored by Dr. Diana Daly (University of Arizona), this textbook offers a multidisciplinary perspective, blending insights from communication studies, students’ lived experiences, and other relevant fields to explore the profound impact of social media on human behavior, relationships, and culture as a whole.
Peer reviewers will be responsible for evaluating the content of the textbook in terms of accuracy, relevance, clarity, and comprehensiveness. Reviewers will assess the suitability of the material for undergraduate and graduate-level courses, as well as its potential contribution to the existing literature in the field. Reviewers will be mentioned in the published version of the book as a reviewer.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in information, communication, media studies, sociology, , or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in social media studies and/or related areas.
- Prior experience in peer review for academic publications or textbooks is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with Open Educational Resources (OER) and a commitment to promoting open access to educational materials is highly desirable.
