Topic: How much is this going to cost? Budgeting OER Production
When: 21 May 2020, 2pm ET/11 am PT
Guests: Matthew Bloom (English Faculty, Scottsdale Community College; Open Educational Resources Coordinator, Maricopa Community Colleges), Tonya Ferrell (Open Educational Resources Coordinator, University of Nebraska at Omaha), and Richard Saunders (Collections Librarian and former Dean of Library Services, Southern Utah University).
While the time and salaries of project managers and authors are typically the most significant investment in OER production, there are also often project costs and other expenditures related to supporting publishing. In this session, we’ll discuss the potential costs of OER production and how to create a budget. We’ll hear from guests who have created budgeting spreadsheets for their projects and programs. We’ll get their opinions on where to spend limited funds and discover common unanticipated costs. Our conversation will focus on estimating accurate projections based on the resources and priorities available at your institution to support OER production.
This session is now complete. Thank you to our guests and attendees. Watch the recording, or read the audio and chat transcripts.
