Team Meet & Greet: Showing Theory to Know Theory

Welcome to Showing Theory to Know Theory!

Take a moment to tell us about yourself, why you’re interested in this project, and get to know your fellow team members. We look forward to working with you on this exciting project.

Hello network members. I’m Alice MacGillivray, preparing a contribution about complexity. I live on Canada’s west coast, do some consulting, and am an associate faculty member at Royal Roads University. I currently work with the schools of Leadership and Environment and Management.

Welcome Alice! Great to have you here!

Hi everyone! I’m a Ph.D. candidate in anthropology at McGill University in Montreal. I research Brazilian state climate scientists (specifically in Minas Gerais) and I’m interested in how the horrors of the climate crisis undermine traditional models of science and politics. My contribution here is an introduction to science and technology studies. I’m really excited to be a part of this project!

Welcome @jonathan.wald! And of course all members of the @showing-theory-team

We’re very grateful for your contributions so far, and looking forward to getting back to you with editorial and reviewer feedback in August (all being well!)

Hi Johathan. Are you familiar with the Society for Social Studies of Science? I haven’t been in touch with them for a few years, but conferences I went to were fascinating! Sounds as if your work would fit well.

Yes, I’m a big fan of 4S! I’d also encourage others to take a look at the annual meeting, even if they don’t think of themselves as a specific “science studies” expert. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how open the conference has been in my experience.
