Philosophy of Science [ed: TBD]

Post revised November 2024

See the full project summary for the series (Project Summary - Introduction to Philosophy - Rebus Community)*

How to participate:
We are currently seeking a book editor for this book. There is a draft outline of chapters that can be adjusted, though some of the chapters have already been written. The editor can adjust the chapter outline for chapters that haven’t been written yet. Then once we have the chapter outline set we will be looking for authors for more chapters.

We are looking for editors with a PhD in philosophy who also have teaching experience at the first-year level. The book editors will be responsible for finding authors for the chapters not yet assigned to authors, ensuring chapters are written in a timely fashion, editing the chapter drafts, working with the authors on revisions after peer review, and the like.

Please see the Book Editor role description for the series for more information on the editor role. Please note that as we do not have any grant or other funding for the book series, and as the books in the series are offered free of charge, this is a volunteer role.

If you have questions, please post them below! If you are interested, please email Christina Hendricks, series editor for the books, with a statement about your interest in the role and your relevant background. Please attach a copy of your CV as well.

I added a comment to the outline, but what about a chapter on causation? The causal skepticism of Russell through the causal modeling approaches used today?

@adamedw01 Thanks for your feedback, Adam! I’ll let @eran-asoulin, book editor, address your question about the chapter on causation.

And I just sent you an email, Adam…I hadn’t seen this post! I was not always getting notifications from this forum before it was redesigned; hopefully I’ll get them now!

Dear Christina and Eran,
I am willing and able to write the demarcation chapter for the phil science introduction. I have a PhD in philosophy and have taught the demarcation problem at an introductory level numerous times. Here is a link to my CV and here is a link to the syllabus for the first-year science and society class I refer to above.
Best wishes,
Dustin
