Hello @may24b-cohort, thanks for a great session today! I’m really pleased to see how well your teams are coming along with your projects. I want to recap a few things mentioned today as well as share the chat transcript from today’s session.
Several people brought up some questions around different facets of Pressbooks, including creating tables and glossaries. You may want to look at the Pressbooks User Guide’s documentation about creating tables, which includes information about the visual editor table tool and the TablePress tool. @eburns also kindly shared with everybody a how-to video she made for creating glossary terms.
As I mentioned today, I encourage you all to consider presentation venues for sharing about the work that you’re doing. You may want to do that this year or perhaps next year after you’ve done some piloting of your OER (or both), but I definitely think others would benefit from learning more about the valuable work you all are doing. I shared a list of open education conferences that you may want to consider, including the Open Education Conference, which has an upcoming proposal deadline on April 4. A few Louisiana-specific conferences were also mentioned, including the LOUIS Users Conference, the University of Louisiana System conference, and the LCTCS Annual Conference. You may also want to consider presenting in venues that are specific to your own disciplines and professional organizations.
Reminders:
- Your updated book outlines are due April 1. LOUIS will use these as a benchmark for your April 30 project deliverables. Only one person from each team needs to send these to Amelia.
- I’d like each team to reply to this thread with 1-3 goals that your team has in mind for the next month. Only one person from the team needs to reply on behalf of the team.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you all for your hard work! I’ll see you at our next session on April 15!
