Plan OER Structure Part 1C: Model Chapter

Let’s plan the detailed structure of a sample chapter that will guide us in our content creation.

Here are my thoughts on the chapter structure:

Start of Chapter:

  • Chapter Learning Objective
  • Bullet Points/Navigation Links
  • One motivational explanation

Section:

  1. Learning Objectives
  2. Summary Table (when applicable)
  3. For each objective: At least one demo example
  4. At least one “Try it!”/Checkpoint-type example
  5. Reminders/Tips
  6. Small Exercises

End of Chapter:

  • Definitions/Notation Reference table
  • Formulas Reference table
  • Review Exercises

We’ve talked quite a bit about MyOpenMath, so focusing on exercises in there is fine by me.
