Session 12: 1:1 with Facilitator

Hey @oct22-b-cohort,

I hope y’all are having a great week so far! I’m looking forward to meeting with your teams individually this Friday, July 28 for our final weekly session. Below are the times for each team:

10:00am - 10:20am: Finite Math
10:20- 10:40am: Trigonometry
10:40am - 11:00am: Applied Calculus
11:00am - 11:20am: College Algebra
11:20am - 11:40am: Statistics

I’ll spend 20 minutes with each team and ask team members to reflect on the following questions:

  1. What was your favourite session and why?
  2. What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned thus far?
  3. What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had so far?

You’ll also have a homework activity to complete. Our final activity asks you to reflect on and articulate your learning experience around DEI, UDL, or student-centered learning in Phase 1. Please find a picture that helps you articulate your learning experience so far and post the picture to this forum thread. Be sure to add a title and a brief description that tells us why you chose that image. Below are some image repositories that are a good starting point:

  1. Openverse
  2. Pexels
  3. Unsplash

As always, if you have any questions or need clarification on anything, don’t hesitate to reach out. Otherwise, looking forward to seeing you all Friday!

Collaboration

Collaboration has been a large part of my learning experience in Phase 1. I chose a photo of people putting puzzle pieces together because I think it shows the collaboration it took to create our resource. The Finite Math book was pieced together like a puzzle because it came from different resources. It took the collaboration of the whole team to make the book come together as a Finite Math resource, rather than a series of chapters written by different authors. Student-centered learning is the ultimate goal of the resource, and I feel the puzzle is close to being complete!

So I like the title of this fractal in addition to the image - 1st attempt. I’m familiar with all the ideas of DEI, UDL, and student-centered classrooms, but the first time I’ve tried to execute them beyond my classroom. There’s been a lot of repetitive editing, and some spaces not filled in, but the final thing is coming together.
